We begin the tour with a drive to Bethlehem, located in the West Bank, starting with a visit to the Shepherds' Field, the site where the Annunciation to the shepherds about the birth of Jesus took place. From there, we proceed to Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity, the sacred location where Jesus was born and laid in a manger. We will also visit the exact spot of His birth and explore the various parts of the church, including St. Jerome's Chapel.
Next, we visit the Milk Grotto, traditionally believed to be the place where the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus took refuge from Roman soldiers before embarking on their journey to Egypt. According to tradition, a drop of Mary's milk fell here, turning the cave entirely white. Many visitors take home the special powder offered by the church, thought to aid those experiencing difficulty conceiving.
Finally, we stroll through the bustling local market of Bethlehem before returning to our car for the drive back to Jerusalem.
